About Me
After working many years in various industries, particularly in financial services, I decided to open a new chapter in my life. I made the bold decision to quit my stable job and resume my studies with the intention of giving myself a more prosperous future.
I have a decade of work experience which has helped me to develop the "soft skills" that would be applicable in my future career. On top of this, I have gained many technical skills from my time at university. But I recognise that I am in need of relevant industry experience.
I am keen to take part in a work placement in the summer of 2019, between my 3rd year and masters. My main areas of interest are in Software Development and Artifical Intelligence. So I would ask any prospective employer reading this to please consider me for any suitable positions you may have.

Skills
Programming
I have a constantly growing knowledge of different programming languages. I feel most confident in Java, Python and JavaScript, having had more experience in them. But I've also been exposed to other languages at university including C, PHP and Prolog.
Development Tools
I have practical experience in using different tools and methodologies for software development including Agile, Scrum, Version Control Systems, Linux and Command Line. I have put these to good use in my university team projects which helped me to achieve a first in each one of them.
Teaching
As a Teaching Assistant I have the responsibility of explaining fundamental concepts of Java to first year Computer Science students. I encourage them to follow coding conventions and to avoid writing superfluous code. Teaching helps to reinforce my programming knowledge and improves my abilities in other areas such as communication, patience and leadership.
Communication
Whether it was teaching the elderly how to use computers, teaching Java to university students or Taekwondo to young children, I've consistently demonstrated my ability to communicate effectively and build rapport with people of all sorts of backgrounds. In my previous employment I also maintained relationships with international clients, some of whom did not speak English.
